PROVIDENCE – Care Thread, a city firm specializing in secure, mobile-care coordination for health care providers, is one of 14 finalists in TechSandBox’s fourth annual Pitch Fest Competition.

TechSandBox, an incubator for science- and technology-based startups based in Hopkinton, Mass., said in a press release that the competition will be held Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. at TechSandBox.
Finalists will give a two-minute pitch to a panel of judges that includes Cherrystone Angel Group’s executive director Jennifer Rousseau.
“They are under a lot of pressure to be very succinct in order to have a chance at part of the $5,000 prize money,” Barbara Finer, CEO of TechSandBox, said in a statement on Thursday.

The prize money was contributed by Worcester Polytechnic Institute Foisie School of Business, Mass Ventures, MassCEC, Partridge Snow and Hahn LLP, Solect Energy Development and Pinnacle Equity Solutions.

“The biggest benefit of pitching is the practice, coaching and feedback. Successful companies must be able to persuade investors, customers and employees,” Jerry Bird, president of MassVentures, said in prepared remarks. “That said, the money can help pay an important expense for a startup.”
