Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor and representatives of Ocean State companies are completing a one-week trade mission to the United Kingdom.
The trip, held in partnership with the Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University, with financing from the U.S. Small Business Administration, included stops in London and surrounding regions, such as Yorkshire.
In Leeds, a city in the north of England, Pryor spoke this week at a trade summit meeting sponsored by RSM Global, a London-based international audit, tax and consulting firm.
The Rhode Island delegation includes experts in retail logistics, from Coast to Coast Fulfillment Inc. of West Greenwich, technology firm AVTECH Software Inc., of Warren, and intellectual property law specialists Feeney Law Group, of Providence, according to a news release from Great British Marketing.
In Leeds, Pryor emphasized the connections between Rhode Island and Yorkshire. “Rhode Island and Yorkshire are both regions that were built on the back of the Industrial Revolution and are in the midst of reinventing themselves for the 21st century,” he said. “Our visit to Leeds is an important step toward cementing ties that will help companies in Rhode Island and Yorkshire find mutual success in the sectors and industries defining the future of the global economy.”
The trade mission is expected to conclude on Sept. 25, according to a news release from the R.I. Commerce Corp.
Commerce RI has described the United Kingdom as among Rhode Island’s biggest potential export markets.
