PROVIDENCE – The same day a personal finance website said Providence has the 33rd best foodie scene in the country, another report named Rhode Island’s capital city as one of eight underrated food cities.
New York-based women’s lifestyle website PureWow this week released an article “8 under-the-radar foodie towns you need to visit,” including Providence on the list.
PureWow said despite Rhode Island’s small size, “when it comes to food, it’s in a sweet spot.” It makes note of Johnson & Wales University in Providence, calling it one of the country’s top culinary schools.
“Make sure to visit the old school, red sauce Italian restaurants on Federal Hill and grab some Syrian street food at East Side Pockets near Brown University. For new flavors, try the food trucks at the Providence flea market, tortas at Tallulah’s Taqueria and the Blue Hill-inspired tasting menu at Persimmon,” PureWow wrote.
The other “culinary underdogs?”
Charlottesville, Va.; Traverse City, Mich.; McMinnville, Ore.; Cleveland; Marfa, Texas; Louisville, Ky.; and Cooperstown, N.Y.
WalletHub on Tuesday said Providence has the 33rd best foodie scene in the country; Orlando, Fla., topped that list.
