NORTH KINGSTOWN – Robert Blackburn has been hired as Quonset Development Corp.’s new port director, responsible for managing the Port of Davisville, the QDC said Monday.
Blackburn joins Quonset from the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, where he served for more than 23 years, most recently as senior deputy executive director.
Blackburn will oversee day-to-day operations at the Port of Davisville, one of the top 10 North American auto importing sites, with more than 200,000 autos arriving by sea for the second year in a row, according to the QDC.
In November, voters approved $50 million in port infrastructure bonds to modernize and repair the Port of Davisville.

“This is an extremely exciting time to be joining the QDC and the Port of Davisville as we embark on a major infrastructure initiative,” Blackburn said in a statement. “I have spent my entire career in port management and I look forward to sharing my skills and experience to continue the significant growth seen at Davisville in recent years.”
Said Steven King, managing director of the QDC, “Robert brings a wealth of experience to Quonset and we look forward to having him join our team.”
