NORTH KINGSTOWN – Quonset Development Corporation is launching a new radio campaign to promote QuonsetJobs.com, an online initiative to make job seekers aware of positions in the Quonset Business Park and Port of Davisville.

Similar advertising efforts have been sponsored by the business park over the past several years, helping to fill more than 10,000 jobs, a news release from the governor’s office said.

“This radio campaign will help us raise awareness about the open positions at the Quonset Business Park companies as part of an effort to connect the unemployed or underemployed with new opportunities for success,” Gov. Gina M. Raimondo said in a statement.

The new radio ads can be found HERE.

Job openings include positions in engineering, mechanics, marketing, information technology and other fields.

“Strengthening Rhode Island’s economy is a top priority for Governor Raimondo,” Stefan Pryor, Raimondo’s nominee to become Rhode Island’s first commerce secretary, said in a statement.

“QuonsetJobs.com is a way for us to connect Quonset Business Park companies with the skilled job candidates they need. This radio campaign is another way to connect employers with potential employees,” he said.

The QuonsetJobs.com site includes listings of companies offering jobs, along with contact phone numbers or links to help in the job hunt and application process. The page also includes links to the state Department of Labor and Training, community information, and links for job seekers and employers.

The QDC has been partnering with the DLT since November to co-host job fairs at the business park on the first Wednesday of every month. The next job fair is set for Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Wide World of Indoor Sports at 1610 Davisville Road from 9 a.m. to noon.

Tenant companies participating in the February job fair include Greencore USA, Ocean State Job Lot, Senesco Marine and Toray Plastics (America) Inc.

This week, the Business Workforce Center is hosting a two-day recruitment to help fill nearly 400 positions with Greencore USA. Events will take place Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday at the Providence netWORKri Career Center, 1 Reservoir Ave., Providence. Greencore hopes to have its new 100,000-square-foot facility in operation at Quonset Business Park by March.

  1. this is a great idea, but Quonset has no mass transit available to get people to the jobs that are being promoted. With 10,000 employees there I would think some would prefer mass transit, even if it were only a train stop.
