PROVIDENCE – Forty-eight skilled nursing centers in Rhode Island have achieved goals set by the American Health Care Association to improve quality care, according to the Rhode Island Health Care Association.

The goals of the nationwide Quality Initiative include reducing hospital readmissions by 15 percent, increasing staff stability by 15 percent, increasing customer satisfaction to 90 percent and reducing off-label use of antipsychotics by 15 percent over the next three years. According to RIHCA, 23 facilities in Rhode Island achieved one goal, 16 achieved two and nine achieved three in the first year of the three-year initiative.

Among those facilities which achieved three goals were the Elmhurst Extended Care Facility in Providence, the Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren and the Morgan Health Center in Johnston. For a complete list of achievers, who will be recognized at an AHCA Symposium in New Orleans on Feb. 10-12, 2014, visit the Rhode Island Health Care Association’s website at www.rihca.com.
