SAN FRANCISCO – Three Rhode Island restaurants – Basil’s Restaurant, Bouchard Restaurant and Inn, and The Spiced Pear – made OpenTable’s list of the Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in the United States for 2013.
OpenTable, a provider of free, real-time online restaurant reservations for diners, and reservation and guest management solutions for restaurants, compiled its list by analyzing more than 5 million reviews for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The list of winners spanned 32 states, with California restaurants earning 16 out of the 100 spots on the list.
Newport was strongly represented in Rhode Island, with Bouchard Restaurant and Inn at 505 Thames St., and The Spiced Pear at 117 Memorial Blvd. Basil’s Restaurant, located a block from Narragansett Beach at 22 Kingstown Road, also made the list.
According to an OpenTable release, fondue places were especially popular on this year’s list. American regional fair accounted for nearly half the spots on the list, though French cuisine was also well represented.
“Diners can be certain that romance is always on the menu at each of these winning restaurants,” OpenTable Chief Dining Officer Caroline Potter, said in prepared remarks. “From creating intimate settings and serving sensual foods that are fun to share and savor, this year’s honorees are experts in setting the mood for guests seeking to celebrate their affection for one another.”
The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in the U.S. were generated from more than 5 million reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between Jan. 1, 2012, and Dec. 31, 2012.
