PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition said its annual Elevator Pitch Contest will be held Dec. 3, and a total of $1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to this year’s top presenters.

All entrepreneurs over the age of 18 are encouraged to present their business ideas in 90 seconds to a panel of judges to receive feedback on their pitches. Registrations will be accepted until Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. and can be submitted online at http://www.ri-bizplan.com/.

Judges will evaluate and score the presentations while giving the presenter feedback and suggestions about the clarity and persuasiveness of their pitches.

Those with the best scores will receive cash prizes as recognition for their achievements. The $1,000 will be divided as follows:

  • $200 (one prize)
  • $100 (three prizes)
  • $50 (five prizes)

The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition has awarded more than $1.8 million in prizes since it began in 2000. It has been recognized as one of the country’s top 40 business plan competitions.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Tech Collective, 166 Valley St., Building 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Those only interested in being part of the audience are asked to pre-register on the website by Dec. 3.
