R.I. Foundation gives $70K to Community Care Alliance

WOONSOCKET – The Rhode Island Foundation has awarded the Community Care Alliance a $70,000 grant to expand its psychiatric hospital diversion services at the Landmark Medical Center.
The one-year “strategy” grant is targeted to improve trauma-related, wraparound care for program clients and their families as well as help reduce inappropriate hospital admissions at the center.
The program is slated to begin early in 2015. People who will benefit are individuals in crisis and in need of stabilization, but not in acute need of psychiatric hospitalization.
The Alliance provides such services as clinical and basic needs assessments on-site at the center’s emergency department, and follow up services for mental health and addictions treatment, and basic needs assistance.
The Alliance is a nonprofit health and human service agency that supports individuals and families in their efforts to meet economic, social and emotional challenges and enhance their well-being.
