R.I. Kitchen & Bath gives two scholarships

COVENTRY – Rhode Island Kitchen & Bath, in partnership with Academic Advantage, is providing a shared $750 scholarship to two high school graduates here.
The Warwick company, along with Academic Advantage, a tutoring and enrichment service also based in Warwick, have awarded $375 each to Coventry High School seniors and sisters Allison Bellows and Jessica Bellows.
The two donors chose the scholarship winners because they exceeded expectations in both academics and community service.
Steve St. Onge, president of R.I. Kitchen and Bath, along with Rick Deutsch, executive director of Academic Advantage, presented the scholarship check to the sisters at the R.I. Kitchen and Bath showroom on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick in August.
“Providing this scholarship to hard-working and diligent individuals is something we look forward to every year and we are thankful to Academic Advantage for partnering together on this contribution,” said St. Onge. “Students such as Allison and Jessica should be acknowledged and encouraged for their academic achievements and community service.”
Both young women ranked at the top of their class at Coventry High School. The sisters also are members of the Rhode Island, national, and World Language Honor Societies. They competed in their school’s varsity cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams. They also participated in the World Language Club and Interact Club at the high school.
Community service involvement included donating time at the Church of Master Soup Kitchen and the North Scituate Baptist Church Vacation Bible School. They will both be attending Brown University in the fall to major in biomedical engineering.
