PROVIDENCE – For the first time, WSBE-TV Rhode Island PBS, has agreed to share all donations made to WSBE in April with Crossroads Rhode Island.

“When Rhode Island families face the daunting challenges of homelessness and seek safe shelter, most turn first to Crossroads Rhode Island for the help they need,” said Crossroads president, Anne Nolan. “Just this past January, the number of families coming to us for shelter has exploded by 111 percent compared to last January.”

David W. Piccerelli, president and CEO of WSBE, said that while the partnership was unprecedented in the station’s history, bold action was needed to match the scope of homelessness in the Ocean State.

“With more Rhode Islanders facing homelessness through job loss and foreclosure, our initiative comes at a critical time,” said Piccerelli.

From April 1 to April 30, half of all contributions made to WSBE will be directed to Crossroads.
