200+ schools and youth groups will participate in the first Statewide READ of "Is Your Hair Made Of Donuts?", by RI author, Joy Feldman, of East Greenwich. Feldman's book and the statewide READ is an act of solidarity on behalf of the health of children. All events will take place on March 11th, with Warwick participating on March 12th.
Participating are 8 RI Mayors, Dr. Michael Fine, Director of the Dept. of Health, NBC10's Molly O'Brien, Capitol TV's Dave Barber, and others who will act as celebrity readers in the classrooms, along with teachers, and others.
Each school is planning unique activities, culminating around the joint reading of Feldman's book which encourages healthy food choices.
