PROVIDENCE – Six Rhode Island businesses have been recognized for excellent workplace flexibility by the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the R.I. State Council Society of Human Resources Development.
The companies were presented with the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility at a forum held on Jan. 31.
The 2012 winners are: Crossroads Rhode Island, Kahn Litwin Renza & Co. Ltd., KPMG’s Providence office, Project Evolution, Rhode Island Housing and Sansiveri Kimball & Co. LLP.
The Alfred P. Sloan Award is a part of the When Work Works project, an ongoing initiative of the Families and Work Institute, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Twiga Foundation, to recognize businesses that are dedicated to “making work work” for their employees.
“The Chamber is thrilled to be involved with the When Work Works project,” Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, said in prepared remarks. “We are pleased that these local companies have been recognized for their use of these policies as a strategy to attract, engage and retain valuable employees.”
The 2012 winners of the Alfred P. Sloan Award in Providence, and in the other 25 communities across the country, range in size, and use workplace flexibility to best suit their employees and their business models.
