SAN FRANCISCO – SquareTrade, the world’s largest independent warranty provider, ranked Rhode Island third clumsiest state regarding iPhone damages.

The study, released Wednesday, highlighted the country’s clumsiest states ranking them in order of everyday consumer iPhone and iPad damage and breakage.

On the list of the top five clumsiest states for iPhones, Rhode Island ranked third, behind Mississippi and New Mexico, respectively.

Rhode Island didn’t make SquareTrade’s top five clumsiest states for iPads list.

“At SquareTrade, we’ve found most devices fail due to drops and spills. iPhones and iPads are fragile devices and sometimes all it takes is small drop to shatter the screen,” Ty Shay, SquareTrade’s chief marketing officer, said in prepared remarks.

“Replacing these broken devices that are now an integral part of our lifestyle costs customers a lot of money,” added Shay.
