NEW YORK — Scientific Games Corporation announced Thursday that it has signed a contract with the Rhode Island Lottery to become the lottery’s only supplier of instant ticket printing services.

The Rhode Island Lottery chose the New York-based company after a competitive procurement process, according to a release. Its three-year contract with the lottery began on July 1, 2013, and the lottery has the option to extend the contract for five additional one-year periods.
“Our players have become accustomed to Scientific Games’ creative and entertaining instant games and we hope our expanded relationship can raise more revenues for the citizens of Rhode Island,” Gerald Aubin, director of the Rhode Island Lottery, said in a statement.

The Rhode Island Lottery saw instant game sales of nearly $85 million in the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Those sales were a segment of the lottery’s total revenue of approximately $775 million and transfers to the state’s general fund of nearly $379 million.

“We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship and we feel gratified that the lottery would like us to become the sole vendor, receiving 100 percent of the instant ticket printing orders for the state,” Jim Kennedy, chief marketing officer and president of printed products for Scientific Games, said in prepared remarks.
