CHICAGO – BestColleges.com, an online resource for students that provides a variety of information on institutions of higher education, released its annual college awards on Monday. Providence based colleges Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design and Providence College were represented, each in different categories, in the website’s “unique” lists.

Brown was named amongst the best colleges for nontraditional students along with Smith College and the College of Idaho. Providence College was awarded a spot as one of the best catholic schools. And RISD, alongside Yale University and Princeton University, won recognition for its library in the best college libraries category.

Additional categories picked by the website that advertised the appeal of chosen academic institutions included: best colleges for intramural sports, best dining halls, colleges with best professors, best campuses, best career services and safest colleges.

No other schools from Rhode Island or Bristol County, Mass. were featured in the list.
