R.I. taxpayers can now pay personal income tax online

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island taxpayers now have the ability to pay their personal income tax online via the official website of the R.I. Division of Taxation.

The service allows annual personal income tax payments, quarterly estimated payments of personal income tax and delinquent amounts of personal income tax to be paid.

For each transaction, the taxpayer will be charged $1 plus a transaction fee equaling 2.5 percent of the overall amount of the transaction.

“This solution provides taxpayers with a convenient option for paying their personal income tax. It will be available for the filing season, which begins in January 2017,” Acting Tax Administrator Neena S. Savage said in a statement.

The online payment option was made possible through a collaboration between the Division of Taxation and Rhode Island Interactive, which currently manages more than 100 RI.gov online services.

RI.gov is Rhode Island’s homepage and official website.

Rhode Island Interactive is a wholly owned subsidiary of NICUSA Inc. NICUSA is a unit of NIC Inc., a publicly traded company based in Olathe, Kan.
