PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island College’s residential master’s in educational leadership program is one of the 50 best in the country for the 2015-2016 academic year for value, according to a list released Monday by Top Masters in Education, an online guide for master’s in education degrees.
The guide listed Jackson State University, the largest historically black university in Mississippi, at No. 1. Rhode Island College came in at No. 31. The guide said RIC’s two-year program features 36 credit hours.
“The program is unique in that also includes a practicum at the start and finish of the academic school year giving students a holistic view of how a public school runs from day one. Course work is delivered via a hybrid model,” Top Masters in Education states about RIC.
It also pegs the estimated annual cost of attendance at RIC at $21,000. In comparison, Jackson State’s estimated annual cost is $11,600.
This is the first time Top Masters in Education has released such a list.
Schools and programs were evaluated based on publicly available information about accreditation, academic quality, student satisfaction, reputation in the field and cost. The lowest-priced, highest-quality, regionally accredited residential master’s in education programs were determined by Top Masters in Education’s lead editor, Hugh Saucedo.
“We believe this list offers a great starting point for students seeking an accredited, affordable, top-quality program that suits their needs,” he said in a statement.
