CRANSTON – The R.I. Emergency Management Agency will conduct briefings this week for applicants interested in reimbursement from the January blizzard.
Eligible applicants include private and public nonprofit organizations, local governments, the Narragansett Indian Tribe, police and fire departments, school districts, and state government agencies.

RIEMA Director Peter Gaynor said the reimbursement program is designed to help public facilities and facilities of private nonprofit organizations return to pre-disaster conditions.
Applicant briefings are scheduled for April 16, from 12:30-4 p.m., at Portsmouth Town Hall, 2200 East Main Road, Portsmouth, and April 17, from noon to 4 p.m., Amica Insurance, 100 Amica Way, Lincoln.

In addition, the following private nonprofit organizations may also be eligible, but they must have IRS or state certification and be open to the general public: community centers, custodial care facilities, educational institutions, emergency and health care facilities, homeless shelters, libraries, medical and rehabilitation facilities, museums, senior citizens centers, shelter workshops, utilities and zoos.
In order to be eligible for reimbursement, applicants must have had more than $3,040 in costs related to the blizzard that took place from Jan. 26 to 28.
