BRISTOL – The Rhode Island Marine Trades Association will offer a second session of its Marine Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program beginning in late February.
Launched in 2013, the Marine Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a 5 1/2-week training plan for individuals older than 18 looking to gain the necessary skills for entry-level positions in the marine industry. In a statement, the association highlighted that the training can also lead to post-secondary education or continued apprenticeship training for those candidates who want to further enhance their skills.
The Marine Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program is funded through an Innovative Partnership grant awarded by the Governor’s Workforce Board of Rhode Island. The $142,788 grant that was awarded to the association earlier this year was part of $1.97 million in Innovative Partnership funding. The program is free.
