RIPTA seeking teddy bear

The R.I. Public Transit Authority and its partners are inviting the public to help “stuff a bus with love” by donating a brand new, unused teddy bear in its original packaging.
The “Stuff A Bus with Love Teddy Bear Drive” benefits the Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Each person who donates will receive a free Alex and Ani bangle (while supplies last) and a RIPTA T-shirt.
RIPTA will be collecting teddy bears at the Alex and Ani flagship store on Saturday, Feb. 1, and Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The store is located at 2000 Chapel View Boulevard in Cranston.
Besides Alex and Ani Charity by Design, partners include WPRI-TV Channel 12, Cox Media, WHJJ 920 News Radio, Coast 93.3 and B101.
Those unable to attend who would like to donate a teddy bear may stop by RIPTA’s headquarters at 705 Elmwood Ave. in Providence between now and Feb. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays only.
RIPTA, the State’s Mobility Manager, operates over 3,000 daily bus trips on over 50 bus routes throughout the state. Last year, the agency provided 20 million rides. RIPTA also offers passenger van “Flex” services in areas not served by fixed-route bus service. For more information on schedules or other RIPTA services, call 401-781-9400 or visit ripta.com.
