PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island School of Design is renovating two floors of its space in the historic Hay Building, a project that will allow it to move several administrative departments into the Dyer Street location.

The 13,000-square-foot space, over two floors, will house the RISD finance, information technology, and some museum administrative offices, according to a notice from Jaime Marland, a school spokeswoman.

Space was freed up when Higgins, Cavanagh & Cooney LLP relocated to a suite at 10 Dorrance St., the Westminster Square Building.

The target completion is summer of 2017. The general contractor is Providence-based Site Specific.

The Hay Building, constructed in 1868, is at 123 Dyer St. It was purchased by RISD in August 2014 for $300,000, according to Providence property records on the Vision Government Solutions website.
