Raimondo attending National Governors Association meeting

Gov. Gina M. Raimondo is attending the National Governors Association’s winter meeting in Washington, D.C., where she is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion on young American activism concerning climate change and energy.

The event, which began Friday morning, is at the Center for American Progress.

Later Friday, Raimondo will participate in a meeting of Democratic governors and President Obama at the White House. On Saturday and Sunday, the governor will participate in conference sessions and committee meetings, according to a news release.

The meetings include the Economic Development and Commerce Committee, which is discussing “Striking a Balance: Governors and Jobs in a Changing Economy.” On Sunday, the governors of states in the Northeast will discuss issues of regional concern, with a focus on energy policy.

Raimondo is scheduled to return to Rhode Island Monday.
