Rhode Island General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo recently presented the Treasury Young Leader Award to 37 students, including five from Providence, at Ximedica, a medical-product-development and health care company.
This award recognizes high school juniors who have demonstrated an interest in entrepreneurship and outstanding achievement in math, economics and business-related classes.
The five honorees from Providence are Cindy Xon, Alejandro Claudio, John Carlos Utate, Anthony Huntley and Jailene Rodriguez.
“The Treasury Young Leader Award honors students who not only excel at their studies but also make significant contributions in their communities,” Raimondo said. “Meeting these talented students and their families makes me proud and optimistic for the future of our state.”
Providence-based Ximedica was selected as the host site for this ceremony due to the company’s commitment to innovation and support of youth. •
