Raimondo, leaders pledge cooperation

PROVIDENCE – Gov.-elect Gina M. Raimondo said in a statement last week that she has met with legislative leaders, pledging cooperation between the General Assembly and the executive branch.
Since her election last month, Raimondo has met with legislative leaders, including Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed and House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello, to discuss the challenges facing the state and the legislative session ahead.
“Senate President Paiva Weed, Speaker Mattiello and I are in agreement that growing our economy and creating job opportunities is our top priority,” Raimondo said, classifying the discussions as “productive conversations.”
Both Paiva Weed and Mattiello shared Raimondo’s sentiments in a statement.
“Our discussion focused on our shared goal of improving the state’s job outlook and strengthening economic-development efforts.” Mattiello said. “We are committed to working cooperatively to move our state forward.”
Raimondo and the members of the General Assembly will be sworn in on Jan. 6. •
