RampUP technical training program coming to R.I.

PROVIDENCE – RampUP, the Startup Institute’s introductory technical training program, is coming to Rhode Island, thanks to a partnership between the institute and Founders League, to prepare the workforce for technology industry jobs.

Over an eight-week period, students will work in small teams, overseen by industry practitioners, as they learn introductory technical skills.
RampUp is taught by instructors from the local tech community and combines in-person evening classes and online resources to create a personalized learning experience. RampUp provides the opportunity for people considering the move toward a career in a high-growth tech company by teaching the foundational technical skills needed to succeed.

“We’re excited to bring RampUP to Rhode Island. This is the first time we have run RampUp as a stand-alone program outside of one of our core cities of operation. By doing this, it allows us to expand our impact and help more people transition to a job they love in the tech industry,” Allan Telio, Startup Institute’s director and vice president, said in a statement. “Rhode Island was a natural choice. We’ve had numerous students travel from Providence to Boston to enroll in our programs. This fact, coupled with our partnership with Betaspring, made this a no brainer.”
Startup Institute also operates in Boston, Chicago and New York.
Melissa Withers, Founders League director, said the Startup Institute helps build the workforce that high-growth companies need.
“The No. 1 need for our companies after they raise capital is great people. RampUp helps plant the seeds for growing technical talent in Rhode Island. This is great for the local economy and for people looking to join the tech ecosystem,” Withers said.
Web design and Web development courses will be offered at Founders League, 95 Chestnut St., third floor, from July 23 to Sept. 27 from 7-9:30 p.m.

For information about the program, contact Allan Telio at allan@startupinstitute.com or (617) 935-2087. Courses cost $600.
