Randolph Savings foundation donates to Cranston library

CRANSTON – Thanks to a $1,000 grant from the Randolph Savings Peter T. Pastore Jr. Charitable Foundation, the Cranston Public Library is piloting a project to use Apple iPads for early literacy development.
“This grant allows us to provide access to an emerging technology for early literacy that not all of our users can afford [and will] further our mission of fostering literacy,” said Library Director Edward Garcia.
Parents and caregivers will have access to iPads that use apps and e-books designed for early literacy efforts, according to the library.
The Pastore Foundation is named in honor of former Randolph Savings Bank Executive Vice President Peter T. Pastore Jr. and is designed to support nonprofit, charitable organizations that enhance the “quality of life” in communities Randolph Savings serves.
