CONSUMER PRICES IN the Northeast rose 1.5 percent year over year in June, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic's Consumer Price Index.

BOSTON - The Consumer Price Index in the Northeast rose 1.5 percent over the 12 months ending on June 30, according to a report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Northeast region includes the six New England states as well as New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Nationally, the index for all items, including the volatile food and energy prices, increased 1.8 percent before seasonal adjustment, year over year in June.

Regionally, the energy index rose 1.7 percent in June. Comparatively, the national energy index rose 3.2 percent.

The housing index in the Northeast posted a 1.8 percent year-over-year increase in June. The regional increase was outpaced by national growth by 0.4 percentage points.

Regionally, the index for transportation rose 1.6 percent, as the national transportation index rose 1.7 percent.
