SMITHFIELD – If it is true that money makes the world go ’round, then the honorees at Providence Business News’ fourth Chief Financial Officers Awards event have helped keep the earth spinning on its axis.
The 10 individuals recognized at the dinner event, held March 27 at Bryant University’s Bello Center, ran the gamut from the financial chief of the region’s second-largest hospital chain to the person in charge of Pawtucket’s finances, and they all have made a significant contribution to the financial health of their enterprises, as is examined in the profiles featured in PBN’s March 31 special section highlighting the award winners.
The event was attended by 200, many of them co-workers of the award winners, as well as some of their bosses. To see photos of the event, click HERE.
In accepting his award for Career Achievement, Care New England Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer John “Jack” Sutherland III noted he was the only thing standing between the other attendees and the door, so he was going to keep his remarks brief. It was a characteristic shifting of the focus away from himself, something he does regularly in his job when he credits the Care New England financial team with the success of the company in the choppy seas of the health care sector of the economy.
The presenting sponsor of the CFO Awards is KPMG; partner sponsors include Bryant University’s Graduate School of Business and Executive Development Center, Cox Business, Gencorp Insurance, and media sponsor AM 790.
