PROVIDENCE – Nine years after its opening, the Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel has completed a major renovation, including all 272 guest rooms, the lobby, meeting rooms and lounge.
The specific value of the project was not released but was described by a spokeswoman for the hotel owners as being in the multimillions.
The luxury hotel, affiliated with Marriott, is operated by TPG Hotel and Resorts, the hospitality management affiliate of Procaccianti Companies of Cranston.
Kimberly Greene, the hotel’s general manager, said the renovations enhance the interior of the hotel with the vibrant, intimate feel of a boutique hotel, while incorporating the history of the building.
The building originally was designed as a Masonic Temple when construction began in 1927. That plan fell apart when construction stopped with the onset of the Great Depression. In 2007, the empty building near the state Capitol was renovated and reopened as a luxury hotel.
The renovations unveiled last week include new Presidential and Vice Presidential suites, a fully refurbished lobby, guest corridors and common areas. Two interior design firms based in New York led the work, according to a press release.
krause + sawyer oversaw renovation of the hotel lobby. dash design, based in New York and Miami, led the renovation of remaining spaces.
