PROVIDENCE – The House Republican caucus has unanimously elected Rep. Patricia Morgan, R-Coventry, as the first female House minority leader.

Rep. Blake A. Filippi, R-Block Island, was chosen to serve as the first millennial House minority whip.

“I look forward to … crafting legislation to address our stagnant economy, reform government, find solutions to overregulation and ultimately to protect the taxpayers. Rhode Island should expect a robust agenda during our next legislative session,” Morgan said in a statement.

Morgan, a financial adviser, holds a master’s degree in education from Rhode Island College. She earned her B.A. at Kent State University and an advanced degree from Providence College. She also attended Mississippi State University.
