Research fund honors former Women & Infants CEO

PROVIDENCE – Women & Infants Hospital has established a research fund in the name of former CEO Constance A. Howes.
The Constance A. Howes Women’s Health Innovation Research Fund had already received $200,000 in donations from 140 donors when it was announced, the hospital said.
Howes retired in October of 2013 after 11 years as CEO.
Current CEODennis Keefe said the dedicated women’s health research fund could help attract physicians and researchers interested in exploring those issues more in depth.
“This fund honors Connie’s legacy by providing seed funding to our rising stars in the area of women’s health research,” Keefe said in a statement.
Keefe also noted that during Howes’ tenure, Women & Infants opened the Carter Family Neonatal Intensive Care, which also helped boost the institution’s national reputation.
