PROVIDENCE – Richard P. Baccari will step down as president and CEO of Churchill & Banks Companies LLC, turning over the operations to his son, Richard Baccari II.
The elder Baccari will assume the role of chairman, providing strategic direction, the company announced Thursday.
Baccari founded the company and built it over 40 years into a leading real estate development and site acquisition firm, with completed projects in several New England states. The company developed the parking garage at T.F. Green Airport, the Louisquisset Condominiums in North Providence, the Lincoln Mall, Salt Pond Shopping Center in Narragansett and Cowesett Corners in Warwick, among other projects.
Richard Baccari II has served in several executive positions with the company for the past 15 years, overseeing the site selection, permitting and financing and leasing functions for the company’s portfolio of owned and managed sites. As principal of Royal Oaks Realty LLC, Baccari was selected by the Interstate 195 Redevelopment District Commission to develop one of the parcels of former highway lands.
He also led the development of Kettle Point, a 407-unit residential project in East Providence. Baccari serves as a member of the Downcity Design Review Commission in Providence, and on the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is a graduate of Bryant University.
The company also announced the promotion of Christopher Needham, to assistant vice president of development. Needham has worked for the company for four years as a broker. He will be responsible for site selection and project management as the company plans an expansion into northern New England and the Mid-Atlantic states.
