Rite Aid gives $10K to Children’s Friend

PROVIDENCE – The Rite Aid Foundation, the charitable arm of Rite Aid, the Pennsylvania-based drug store chain which operates 44 stores in Rhode Island, has issued a $10,000 grant to Children’s Friend, a Providence-based family support services nonprofit.
“Rite Aid knows that healthy communities are made up of healthy homes and families,” said Gayle Rifer, manager of the Rite Aid Foundation, in a statement. “The Rite Aid Foundation is proud to support Children’s Friend in its mission to improve the well being and healthy development of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable young children and their families.”
The grant will be used to fund the organization’s Supporting Young Children’s Emotional Health and Well-Being Program.
The program provides counseling to children in need of specialized treatment and counseling for behavioral health issues.
The Rite Aid Foundation previously awarded Children’s Friend a grant of $6,000 in 2011.
