Rockland Trust warns of security breach

(Updated 10:59 a.m.) BOSTON – Rockland Trust Co. on Monday said there’s been a debit card security breach affecting customers in the Northeast region.
The bank said in a statement that it is trying to notify customers it believes could have been impacted by the breach and urges customers to review their bank activity.
“You can review your account activity using online banking, mobile banking, or telephone banking,” the bank said in a statement. “In addition, you can visit your local branch.”
Customers can also call the bank’s call center at 800-222-2299.
“If you notice suspicious activity on any of your Rockland Trust account(s) or have questions about this incident, please contact us immediately,” the bank said. “We will work with you to resolve the issue and expedite sending you a new credit card.”

A bank spokeswoman said “a limited number” of cards were impacted and that the majority of affected customers had already been contacted and reissued cards.
