Ross-Simons parent hires James Speltz as president

CRANSTON – James M. Speltz is the new president of Luxury Brand Holdings, Inc., the parent of Ross-Simons and Sidney Thomas fine jewelry announced on Monday.

Speltz started last week and will join the company’s board of directors and oversee all business activities for Luxury Brand Holdings. Board Chairman and CEO Darrell S. Ross previously served as president.

Speltz comes to Luxury from Teikametrics, where he served as chief operating officer for the software and service provider to Amazon.com third-party merchants. Speltz also previously served as CEO for Brookstone, the multichannel specialty retail company where he spent 18 years serving in various roles.

“[Speltz] is a seasoned direct marketer who brings a fresh perspective to the ever-changing retail landscape,” said Ross in a release. “Together, we will expand and innovate on our brand footprint, build upon our strong corporate culture, and develop new strategies for providing high-quality fine jewelry at an exceptional value.”

Speltz said the “LBH brand umbrella represents the best of luxury, beauty, service and value in the fine jewelry market. … The brand equity that has been built up since 1952 is an immensely powerful asset as we take an ambitious approach to growing our portfolio and customer base.”

The company also announced the planned retirement of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Robert Simone. Simone served as chief operating officer for 19 years and will stay with the company through the second quarter.
