SBA names full slate of 2015 winners for R.I.

PROVIDENCE – One day after naming the top winner in its annual Small Business Week awards program, the Rhode Island office of the U.S. Small Business Administration of Rhode Island has revealed the rest of the lineup of local winners.
Monday, the SBA tapped Chris Ciunci, founder and CEO of TribalVision LLC, as its Small Business Person of the Year for Rhode Island. He is now in the running for the 2015 National Small Business Person of the Year, which will be recognized May 8 in Washington, D.C.
Locally, Ciunci, along with all the other Rhode Island district winners, will be feted at the 2015 Small Business Week Awards luncheon on May 13 at the Alpine Country Club in Cranston.

The rest of the winners are as follows:

  • Young Entrepreneur, Rhode Island and New England: Jason and Lynsey Colgan, owners of A Child’s University in Cranston
  • Minority-Owned Small Business, Rhode Island and New England: Oscar Mejias, CEO, Hernan Padilla, executive director, of HiTEP, in Providence
  • Entrepreneurial Success: Justin Hoffler, owner of Muff’s Motorsports LLC, Hopkinton
  • Woman-Owned Small Business: Deborah Schimberg, CEO, Verve Inc., Providence
  • Home-Based Small Business: Patricia Raskin, owner of Raskin Resources Productions Inc., East Greenwich
  • Financial Services Champion: Sandra Cano, vice president of business and community development, Navigant Credit Union, Central Falls
  • Joseph G.E. Knight Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence: Rick Becker, owner of Garland Pen, Coventry
  • Rhode Island District Director Award: The Center for Women & Enterprise, Women’s Business Center, Providence
