WASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration has appointed Seth Goodall of Richmond, Maine, as the administrator for Region I, the SBA region that comprises Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Goodall, an entrepreneur, public servant and attorney, has “a long history of working with and on behalf of small businesses in New England,” according to an SBA release.

Currently, Goodall works as an attorney at Dyer Goodall P.A., where he represents municipalities, individuals and small businesses. He also represents Sagadahoc County and Dresden in Lincoln County as State Senator in the Maine State Legislature, where he is Senate Majority Leader.

Since 2009, Goodall has served on the Maine Economic Growth Council.

“As an attorney and public servant, Seth has worked with small businesses in the New England region throughout his career,” SBA Administrator Karen Mills said in prepared remarks. “I am pleased that, as Region I Administrator, he will be able to draw on his experiences as a small business owner, as well as his expertise garnered from extensive experience in the public and private sectors, to help entrepreneurs across the region start, grow and succeed.”

As Region I administrator, Goodall will oversea SBA operations throughout its director offices in the New England region in Augusta, Maine; Boston; Concord, N.H.; Hartford, Conn.; Montpelier, Vt.; and Providence.

Goodall is scheduled to begin the position in June following the adjournment of the Maine State Legislature.

“It is an incredible honor to serve the Obama Administration and work with Administrator Mills on growing and strengthening small business. I have a deep appreciation and understanding for the role small business plays in our economy and our communities,” said Goodall in prepared remarks. “I look forward to sharing my commitment and utilizing my experience to help the SBA to create jobs and bolster our economy in New England.”
