SEED seeks member input

TAUNTON – The South Eastern Economic Development Corporation is soliciting member feedback leading into its annual meeting, to be held Thursday, Nov. 29, at White’s of Westport.

The community development agency recently reported its statistics for the fiscal 2012 year, with lending to small businesses in Rhode Island and Massachusetts totaling $40.2 million, an increase of 20 percent over its fiscal 2011 activity. The 134 loans supported the creation of 688 jobs, according to SEED, and brought the agency’s active loan portfolio to $109 million.

Slated to take place at the annual meeting (click HERE to see the invitation to the event) are the election of members, directors and officers, as well as the awarding of the organization’s awards for small business of the year and banker of the year. The guest speaker is scheduled to be Mass. Treasurer and Receiver General Steven Grossman.

In addition to attending the yearly meeting, members of SEED provide a support network for the corporation’s programs. They also are able to serve on its board of directors, which meets six times a year, and is responsible for oversight of SEED’s activities and for approval of loan applications.
