SENEDIA inviting college students studying STEM fields to apply for scholarships

MIDDLETOWN – College students studying science, technology, engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are invited to apply for one of Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance’s (SENEDIA)2015 scholarships.
“There is no issue more critical to the defense industry than the availability of a highly-trained STEM workforce,” Molly Magee, SENEDIA’s executive director, said in a statement. “SENEDIA is proud to once again offer these scholarships in support of local students preparing to enter a STEM field. We strongly encourage all interested students to apply.”
SENEDIA will provide multiple scholarships of up to $1,000 for the 2015/2016 academic year. To meet minimum eligibility requirements, students must be a permanent resident of the Southeastern New England area (Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts); currently matriculating at an accredited college or university in United States; and focusing their studies in a STEM-related subject area.
As part of the application, interested students must provide justification as to how they plan to leverage the scholarship in support of the Southeastern New England work force.
Application materials and more information on the scholarships can be found at

Employees of SENEDIA member companies and their immediate family members will be given extra consideration in the evaluation process.

Its membership is comprised of defense-oriented organizations from Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, representing industry, academia and nonprofit interests.
