Sandy recovery efforts noted in South County

WESTERLY – Citizens Bank celebrated the re-opening of its Westerly branch from temporary closure due to Hurricane Sandy by designating Wednesday, Nov. 28, Westerly Customer Appreciation Day.
In addition to refreshments and other giveaways, the bank made a donation of $7,500 to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly. “These funds will help us address many diverse needs local residents are facing,” said Jonnycake Center Executive Director Elizabeth Pasqualini. This support, she added, “will assist us in helping our neighbors who have suffered losses as a result of Hurricane Sandy.”
Edward O. “Ned” Handy III, president of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens in Rhode Island and Connecticut, added that “the effects of Hurricane Sandy are still widespread in the area, and we want to express to our customers that we are there for them as they continue to rebuild their lives.”
In addition to the festivities, which occurred some two weeks after the branch had re-opened, the bank has hosted a series of three financial education workshops at the branch, about budgeting, retirement planning, and still to come on Wednesday, Dec. 5, “Home Buying Essentials and Refinancing Your Home,” to be held from 5-6 p.m. Reservations are encouraged, call (401) 596-4945.
