Sea Corp. wins SBIR contract

MIDDLETOWN – Systems Engineering Associates Corporation – Sea Corp. – has received a contract to work with the Missile Defense Agency under the federal Small Business Innovative Research program.

The $100,000 contract for phase I will allow Sea Corp. to develop plans for “restraining and deploying multiple payloads for missile-defense applications,” according to a news release from the company.

The SBIR program offers incentives to businesses with fewer than 500 employees to allow them to capitalize on their innovative research.

The purpose of phase I is to determine the technical merit and feasibility of the proposed concept.

Under phase II, companies explore the scientific merit and commercialization potential of the project. Phase III focuses on commercialization and is funded by federal agencies, rather than the SBIR program.

“This award highlights Sea Corp.’s focus on innovation and provides an important opportunity for the company to develop new concepts and products,” said Senior Vice President David Lussier. •
