Segue Institute earns Whole Child designation

CENTRAL FALLS – Rhode Island leaders joined Segue Institute for Learning scholars, staff, parents, and board members in mid-December as the charter school was named 2013-2014 Whole Child Recognition School.
The Rhode Island ASCD, a community of educators and education supporters, made the designation. The group introduced the Whole Child Recognition Program in 2012. The program recognizes those schools that demonstrate a commitment to action for the whole child.
“Our children deserve an education that emphasizes academic rigor as well as the essential 21st-century skills of critical thinking and creativity,” said Elizabeth Brito, RIASCD’s executive director. “We congratulate Segue for meeting and exceeding these standards.” •
