The owner of downtown Providence’s “Superman Building,” as the Industrial Trust Tower has been known for years, is looking to redevelop the now-empty building with the aid of significant government assistance, through the historic building rehabilitation tax credit as well as a property tax stabilization schedule.
All told, estimates put the value of such help at upwards of $75 million. The question is, would this kind of public investment in the property be a good one?
