Six R.I. businesses selected as finalists for $10K prize in Cox Business Pitch Competition

SIX R.I. entrepreneurs have been selected as finalists to compete in the third annual Get Started R.I., a Shark Tank-like business pitch competition presented by Cox Business and Inc. magazine.

WEST WARWICK – Six R.I. entrepreneurs have been selected as finalists to compete in the third annual Get Started R.I., a Shark Tank-like business pitch competition presented by Cox Business and Inc. magazine, according to a news release.
Get Started R.I. will take place Sept. 24 at the Harbor Lights Country Club in Warwick, where the six finalists will pitch their business ideas to a panel of experts to compete for a $10,000 “technology package” courtesy of Cox Business.
The six entrepreneur finalists are:

  • CBC, providing wind energy solutions
  • Deelish Skin, healthy skin care products
  • Movin, refurbishing and reselling furniture
  • Ocean State Smoked Fish Company, locally sourced smoked fish
  • Primal Digital Marketing, behavioral marketing and sales
  • XactSense, 3D surveying

An expert panel will judge the finalists as well as provide advice and support.
Panelists include Kim Anderson, president, Ava Anderson Non Toxic; Steve DeOssie, former NFL linebacker and co-owner of Fred & Steve’s Steakhouse; James Ledbetter, editor, Inc. Magazine; Ted Nesi, reporter, WPRI-TV 12; and Ken Kraft, vice president of marketing, Cox Business, who will also moderate the session.
Each panelist was selected to bring their unique expertise to the event and to provide feedback and advice in all aspects of starting a business, according to Cox.

The event will begin with a networking session at 5 p.m. After the pitches have concluded, an interactive question and answer session will take place with the expert panel and live audience.
