EAST GREENWICH – South County Hospital, the only remaining independent community hospital in Rhode Island, held a town meeting at the East Greenwich Free Library on Nov. 14 to tout its urgent and walk-in care.

South County Medical Director Dr. Joseph Turner, Steve Jurchnik, the hospital’s nurse manager of emergency services, and Anne Marie Murphy, a nurse and clinical leader, met with residents to listen to concerns and suggestions about how the hospital could better serve the residents’ urgent health care needs.

The town-meeting format was chosen to elicit residents’ opinions. •
