South County among region’s tops for patient satisfaction

WAKEFIELD – South County Hospital achieved patient satisfaction scores in the 99th percentile for 10 consecutive quarters, the highest scores not only in Rhode Island but also New England, including 92 hospitals in six states, hospital officials announced on May 21.
More than 44,000 patients were included in the regional survey, and 5,205 patients were surveyed in Rhode Island between January and April 2012.
The surveys cover nearly every aspect of patient care, including how patients’ family and visitors were treated. Room comfort and cleanliness; the attentiveness of nurses and other caregivers; pain management; food; tests and treatments; clarity of instructions; discharge planning information are all included in the survey.
“We are pleased that our patients continued to be so satisfied with the care they receive here,” said Lou Giancola, president and CEO. “It is especially gratifying that our continued dedication to our patients has made us one of the top-ranked hospitals in New England.”
“Our staff is committed to maintaining the high levels of excellence our patients have come to expect at South County Hospital,” said Barbara Seagrave, vice president of Patient Care Services. “We strive every day to make certain this satisfaction continues.”
