Southcoast Health System encourages nonprofits to apply for funding

NEW BEDFORD – Southcoast Health System, a nonprofit community-based health care provider, seeks requests for proposals to fund innovative and proven projects to benefit communities in southeastern Massachusetts and the East Bay of Rhode Island.
Priority areas for funding in 2016 are: reducing the high rates of chronic disease, health disparities and risky behaviors among youth; addressing behavioral health issues and maternal and child health issues; developing healthy “system and environment” changes and increasing emergency preparedness in the area’s cities and towns.

The average anticipated grant will range between $5,000 and $10,000; the maximum grant amount will be $20,000. Proposals are due to Southcoast Health by Jan. 31, 2016 by 5 p.m., and must include several documents, including a cover sheet provided by Southcoast, a three- to five-page proposal narrative, a one-page budget narrative, the program/project budget and a copy of the applicant’s IRS charity determination letter. Proposals will be reviewed during the month of February; Southcoast anticipates announcing the winning grantees on Feb. 29. The one-year grant period will begin March 1, 2016.
