WEST GREENWICH – Lyn A. Spinella of Lincoln is the new executive director of the Rhode Island Farm Bureau, the organization announced Wednesday.
Spinella, of Lincoln, joined the Farm Bureau in 2005 as a member of the board of directors and has held the position of chair of the Women’s Leadership Committee for the past two years.

As Executive Director, she will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective contacts and relationships with farmers and farm organizations. She also will promote agriculture through lobbying efforts at the federal, state and local levels and will attend fairs and farmer’s markets.

“My goal is to garner support for farming by bringing the Farm Bureau message to Rhode Islanders. Agriculture touches everyone’s life in some way every day so it is vital that farms and farming continue to endure in our state. I’m excited to participate in the promotion and growth of Rhode Island Farm Bureau as we embark on a new path to bring farmers together. Rhode Island Farm Bureau is a resource to assist and support farmers and we will be exploring and developing new programs to provide that much needed aid,” Spinella said in a statement.

Spinella owns Brookside Equestrian Center, a 100-acre horse farm in North Smithfield.

Founded in 1953, Rhode Island Farm Bureau is the largest farm organization in the state.
