Sports complex hearings postponed

Posted 1/20/12

NORTH ATTLEBORO – The permitting hearings for a $20 million sports complex next to the North Attleboro Industrial Park have been postponed until February, The Sun Chronicle reported this week.

Complex developers North Sports Group are hoping to get a special permit to build the project – which would include two ice rinks, an indoor field and a track – but need a town meeting vote Jan. 25 to make that possible, according to the paper.

Currently local law requires a use variance and does not allow a special permit.

North Sports Group asked that hearings for a variance be delayed until after the town meeting vote determines whether a special permit is possible.
